The youth categories raced as per normal but the seniors indulged in a Madison
Cross that saw each rider conducting a flying lap before handing over to their
partner - results
After the first frantic and rather hairy change over the race settled into
a very fast event. Hardly did a rider have time to recover before they were
sent back into the action.
The best madison slings were carried out by track regulars such as Bryan Taylor
and Ben Atkinson, but the best pair were Felix English and Corrine Hall who
showed real style. The scariest were Phil Jones and Andy Waterman who needed
three laps to complete the change in the set distance.
The race saw the pairings of Jon Sharpe and Matt Spurgin vying with Mike Bell
and Alec Briggs for the win. It was only on the last lap did Sharpe and Spurgin
look secure.
Brock Duncombe and Taylor Johnstone were next up and they benefited when Ian
Paine broke a chain leaving poor Matt Seaton to complete three laps alone. (The
look on his face when he realised what he had to do was classic)
It was a great event and will return next year, we laughed and cheered on and
at the riders.
