Heron Cyclesport and Shaftesbury CC are to resurrect the classic Dengie Marshes
Tour, to the northeast of Burnham-On-Crouch, Essex on September 23..
Whilst not using all of the original circuit, it still retains most of its
'unique charm' and pays respect to the UK's Melton Classic and of course Paris
Roubaix
The majority of the race is on unclassified single track farm roads. Not unlike
Northern Flanders – narrow / twisting / little used and not regularly
maintained. The steepest climb is over a railway bridge . Vast open stretches
, just above sea level , provide little shelter and should encourage “
full on “ racing.
The only respite may be on the stretch approaching the HQ,. here is a large
car park – toilets – changing rooms with showers.
- Sections of the circuit are on private roads
- Seven laps of 11 miles of which almost nine are on farm roads
- Entries close September 2
- 1st. prize £100 + champagne + flowers for mother/wife/girlfriend
