Welwyn Track League 07 - 4

Alex Dowsett was the star of the show at Welwyn on Friday – he started by taking 3rd spot in the 10 lap scratch behind George Olive and Bryan Taylor, started in the scratch group in the 10 lap Block Handicap attacked early and caught and passed the field to win with ease with Mark Zaschke leading in the limit group.

Alex then took all 10 laps in the Points race and finished off in style by lapping the field in the 10 mile to close out a fine evenings racing despite the chilly breeze.

Some spirited racing in the Senior B group saw honours shared between Steve Grimwood, Time Chandler and Paul Caton.

The strong Youth category were split into 3 groups with each participating in four races. The Youth B and C Handicaps produced some close finishes – Esther Colman showing good form in the B group, George Wood in the C Group and Nathan Colman notching up two victories in a competitive A group.

Please note:
"Welwyn track will be out of action for 6 days from Monday 14th May while a bitumen slurry coating is applied to both bankings to seal the track and improve the surface finish of the track. Track training on Monday 14 May and the Track League on Friday 18th May are therefore cancelled. Normal service will be resumed on May 21.
