Brighton Mitre Hove Pk

On a still but chilly spring evening, 18 Cat 2/3’s and 11 Cat 4’s lined up for the inaugural Hove Park Crit race, on a small tight circuit that rewards good bike handling and attacking riding.

The Cat 2/3’s went about their business at a blistering pace with Ishmael Burdaeu (Agiskoviner.com) showing strong in the early laps. This set the trend for the rest of the race with Felix English (Team Corridori) and Dan Clark (Brighton Mitre) both making concerted efforts to breakaway from the bunch.

This whittled down the group to ten and the decisive move coming from Scott Budgen (Team Corridori) with about 7 laps remaining holding on to a convincing win, with Mike Hawki(Norwood Paragon)leading home the pack for 2nd.

The Cat 4 race set off just behind at an equally fast and aggressive pace, Oliver Pepper quickly decimating the bunch into small groups around the circuit, riding a strong race on his own from the start building a lead he was never to relinquish. Jo Burt (Kona) and Paul Drake (London Dynamo) finishing second and third.
