The 2007 league starts on Tuesday April 22 and introduced in 2006 is the 'Eddie
Wingrave' cup which will go to the league champion. (to be presented by Eddie
himself)
Racing each Tuesday evening until August 26. That's 19 weeks of racing (weather
permitting).
The senior race will be in three parts - E/1/2s will race the full distance,
three laps more than the cat 3/4s. New for 2008 is a women's category (see below)
and they will race six laps less than the full distance.
Riders should also get there as early as possible to sign on, as numbers maybe
high.
As ever youth riders are very welcome with the under 16 race at 6.30pm &
for the first time there will be an under 12 event at 6pm to be held on the
top circuit.
Crystal Palace is a tough circuit with a good hill and tight turns, but it
does make for good racing, it can improve your bike skills. Riders also tend
not to pull out but find others to race against. (That's what we did when we
raced there)
The organisers really need your support - if you could volunteer yourself,
club or team to help marshal this would be of enormous help.
Women
There will be a seperate women's race, if 12 women turn up and points will be
up for grabs in a season long competition. This should present an excellent
opportunity for good racing for women of all cats.
Alec Bevan Cup
The evening of June 24 will see the senior race winner claim the Alec Bevan
Cup (With extra prize money) awarded in memory fo a Palace rider killed in the
Normandy Landings of WW2.
Picnic
Take a picnic & watch, it's a nice spot for racing & the action on the
demanding course is usually too good to miss.
