Circuit starts its 11th season on 8 April under the organisation of BC West Thames
Promotions with the support of 24 clubs staffing one evening each. It will take
the same format as for many years with a 30 minute race for all age categories
of Youth to start with, followed by separate races for E/1/2/3 and 4/W/J categories
although run concurrently with the start 45 seconds apart. There are prizes for
the first six in each race to be collected on the night and BC category points
for the top ten in each race.
Wear numbers like this
With more camera operators likely to be available following a recent training
course, the use of Hillingdon's own photofinish equipment should lead to more
accurate and quicker judging if riders help by putting their numbers on as requested
(see photo). It should also allow prizes to be awarded to the leading 3rd cat.
riders in the main race who will be allocated special numbers.
First Aid and catering has been arranged for the whole series, together with
a signing on official to ensure continuity by working with the change of club
each week.
New wheels are being purchased to make up the four pairs available for riders
with punctures.
An innovation this season is a Lucky Rider raffle from the second week onwards.
The prize is £15 for the number drawn of any registered rider, but they
must be present to collect it. If not entered that particular week, then the
prize is 'rolled over' to the subsequent week and so on. This can lead to a
substantial prize which could go to a 4th cat rider just as easily, or luckily,
as to a top Elite. The organisers feel that this might reward the regular rider
who is more enthusiastic than rapid enough to get into the top placings in fields
often over the 100 mark for the two races.
