Held in memory of Charlie Negus the race 30/3/08, is built on the success
and rider praise of the first race. A modified course, still based on the open
expanse of the Dengie Marshes, offers fresh challenges. Retaining the unique
character of the area, it is typical of racing in Belgiums North Flanders region.
A 2.6 mile neutralised section on smooth roads provides the “ lull before
the storm “.
Six laps of an 11 mile circuit, will provide what could be the most demanding
race in the region, the majority being on unclassified farm roads – not
regularly maintained & in poor condition.
Each circuit has a brief respite of a little over one mile on “B”
roads which is followed by a section of a NON – TARMAC private driveway.
The final eight mile leg , probably the most exposed, is all on farm roads.
Featuring the infamous “ gravel & mini-earthquake zone “ sections
before the last gasp finish on the railway bridge.
Now regarded as a “sibling” of the “ EAST MIDDS. CICLE CLASSIC
“ which follows just a few weeks later, some will be using the “
TOUR “ as preparation for it.
