The Herne Hill track may be out of use for the winter months but this doesn't
mean that activities stop.
After a successful first race last year, the velodrome will be hosting two
rounds of the London Cyclo Cross League this year. For both weekends, there
will be a Go-Ride programme running in conjunction with the race.
This means that there will be a day of training and skills on the Saturday
and a pre-race preperation session on the morning of the event. Last year, this
format was extremely successful-all the riders enjoyed the training day as well
as learning a lot and there were some fantastic results in the races as well.
Either Cyclo Cross bikes or mountain bikes can be used and if you don't have
access to either we have bikes that can be borrowed so there is no excuse for
not taking part even if you normally ride on the road or track!
- Event 1: 15th and 16th December
- Event 2: 12th and 13th January
- Cost is £10 for the weekend which includes race entry fee.
- Herne Hill Velodrome, Burbage Rd, London
- Obviously given the time of year, the weather could well be cold and wet
so riders will need plenty of warm clothes, waterproof jackets and food.
- Refreshments will be available to buy on race day but not on the Saturday.
On the Saturday sessions will run from 10-12 and 13:00-15:00 (Please arrive
by approx. 9:30).
On the Sunday the first race is at 11am so we will start a little earlier at
9:30 (Please arrive at approx. 9am). This will give us time to ride the course,
get signed on, warm up and make sure riders are ready in plenty of time for
their race.
It doesn't say in the information that the scheme is for 8-16 year olds (sorry, no seniors). Also, you will need to pre-book, please contact me for a booking form and parental consent.
