The short answer is Yes. We are going to have a shortened series this year, of 6 events.
The first of these will be on Wednesday May 21, and then every TWO weeks after that. Your Best Four out of Five events will count for the Series positions, then there will be a Team race on July 30th.
Happily, Brixton Cycles and Torq Fitness will be supporting us yet again, and we can't thank them enough for their support over many years!
It will take place at Hainault Forest Country Park again, as the new Hog Hill off-road circuit is not expected to be fully ready until August.
Next Year we hope to come back with a full-scale series once the new circuit is properly up and running and bedded in a bit!
We'll be sending out more details of the events shortly.
Yes we do have a singlespeed category. In fact it's quite competitive in there!
And we are going to need some help marking out the circuit each week too. We start doing this at 3pm, and if you help us you get a free race and some cake.
<!-- w -->Hopefully you will have heard by now that Beastway kicks off again in 2008 on Wednesday May 21st at 7.30pm. he Website - http://www.beastway.com<!-- w --> - wasn't live at the time of sending this, but should be up and running in a day or two.
The venue will be the same as last year - Hainault Forest Country Park - we had hoped to get into the new MTB venue at Redbridge Cycling Centre (Hog Hill), but the full MTB track won't be ready until about August or possibly September.
Please note that Beastway will have just 6 events this year, and these will take place on Alternate Wednesdays. There are a couple of reasons for this: 1. The circuit has had to be cut slightly from last year's, due to other pressures on park usage. 2. We're a little down on personnel too, so volunteers will be very welcome! 3. We felt that it would be a fair bit more difficult to put this year's series on - but rather than call off the series for this year we'd keep you all ticking over with fewer events, but then hopefully come back to full strength next year at the new venue.
Early signs are that the MTB circuit across the road at Hog Hill will be really exciting, and definitely worth waiting for! However, as the trails are not yet fully laid, and surface materials need to settle and bed in a bit, you are asked NOT to take any sneaky peeks at the new place just yet.
In case you can't access the attachments, the dates for this year's series are: May 21st, June 4th, June 18th, July 2nd, July 16th and the Team Race and Prizegiving on July 30th. Your 4 best results from the 5 counting rounds contribute to the series scores.
If you would like to volunteer for helping set out the circuit (Free Race) or anything else, please email back or phone me on 07930 397245.
Locking my keys in the car before the start (kit stil within) was a minor scare... but with skills i never knew i had, i managed to break in and retrieve them
First time doing Beastway at Hainault for me, and found the course a bit short/limited...but that aside it was just great to be out racing...
didn't like the sucky hill of grass but then i'm not built for going up hills, did gigglr tomyself at the 4 riders i saw at the top of it checking to see if they had punctures on the first lap.
